Practice Areas Overview

With offices in Houston, Leigh B. Meineke Law Firm provides comprehensive legal counsel to individuals and businesses throughout Harris County, Texas and the surrounding counties in the areas of business formation and transactions, estate planning, probate administration, and construction and real estate law. In all matters, our firm aims to provide honest, personally tailored advice and cost-effective solutions to our clients’ legal concerns.

Business Law

Our firm assists business owners with entity formation, and provides ongoing consulting services with regard to organizational strategies, contractual agreements, licensing and regulation requirements, complex transactions and employee issues. In the role of general counsel, we offer advice to clients considering and negotiating various business deals, always making sure that their interests are protected and that agreements are fair and beneficial to our clients. We also offer advice and representation regarding the purchase or sale of a business.

By preparing thorough, accurate documents and providing sound business advice, we help clients prevent losses and minimize the likelihood of future disputes. However, should a conflict arise, we are experienced litigators, representing clients in contract and employment disputes. When businesses become involved in litigation, issues may become very complex, demanding substantial time, effort, and money. Our firm understands the impact that litigation can have not only on a business’ bottom-line, but also on its reputation and daily operations; we work to favorably resolve disputes swiftly for our clients. Please see our business law page for more information about our services in this area.

Estate Planning

We assist client with estate planning and related concerns, including the preparation and implementation of basic wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and guardianship arrangements. In addition, we handle succession planning for our small business clients, working to facilitate the orderly transfer of control and wealth to successive generations. Through proactive planning and the creation of clear, thorough documents, potential disputes upon the passing of a loved one can often be avoided. Firm principal Leigh B. Meineke is especially passionate about this area of her practice, and truly cares that she is able to effectively carry out her clients’ wishes. Please see our page devoted to estate planning for more information about our professional services in this area.

Probate

In addition to estate planning, we perform a wide variety of services related to the administration of deceased persons’ estates, including comprehensive probate administration services. We have successfully handled intestate situations, where a person died without a will, and complex disputes involving estates with assets over several million dollars, as well as estates that were insolvent. Also, we have probated estates with lost wills and wills that were executed in other states, and even other countries. Our firm understands that probate administration can lead to disputes among family members, as the deceased’s intentions are sometimes unclear. Our goal is to afford our clients sound advice and peace of mind during this difficult time, while protecting their rights and interests. For further information, please see our probate page.

Real Estate Law

We have experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating both residential and commercial real estate contracts, including purchase and sale contracts, property transfer agreements, and loan documents for individuals and mortgage companies. In our practice, we regularly encounter construction and real estate legal issues. Our firm has represented contractors who have not been paid, filing liens and lawsuits on their behalf.
